Energy: Will There Be Enough?
7.5 Professional Development Hours
8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
June 17, 2008 in Tempe

Is it possible that we could reach a day when rolling blackouts become the norm? What can we do today to ensure an adequate energy supply for tomorrow? Can scientific innovation help us become more energy literate? Engage in activities designed to showcase energy and our energy future across disciplines and grade levels (grades 3-12).

Best practices emphasis: Differentiated instruction, literacy across the curriculum

By participating in this workshop, learners will:

  • Examine the role of society in energy sustainability by exploring how the economy, environment, lifestyles and population are interconnected.
  • Explore renewable and nonrenewable energy sources by comparing and contrasting nuclear, hydropower, geothermal, wind, solar, and coal as sources for energy.
  • Understand how to address the diverse literacy needs of students by learning to use strategies for differentiating content, process, product, and learning environment.
