Student Assessment For and Of Learning (Basics)
Improving Classroom and Campus-Based Assessment
Here’s your opportunity to get a firm understanding of current standards-based assessment concepts and practices that help improve and document student learning. No school can accomplish its mission of educating all students unless it can answer exactly what each student is expected to learn and how each one will be able to demonstrate their learning. This workshop will promote a research-based approach of balancing diagnostics, formative and summative assessments within a classroom and across a campus. Key concepts include:
- The role of assessment for learning
- The role of assessment of learning
- The keys to quality assessment, including clear targets and purposes and sound design
- The “power” of common assessments
- Effective communication about assessment results – grading, reporting and conferencing
- The importance of having a school-wide approach of systematic interventions for helping students who are experiencing difficulty or who are not learning
Student assessment continues to pose great challenges for campuses committed to high performance. This workshop will provide “just in time” training.
