Differentiating Classroom Instruction (Basics)
Understanding that One Size Does NOT Fit All in Student Learning
No two students learn and respond exactly the same. So why do we teach as if all students are identical? Here’s your opportunity to explore a vision of highly performing classrooms in which heterogeneity is honored through differentiated instruction. Meeting the needs of ALL students should be our goal. Discover how teachers in academically diverse classrooms address student differences in readiness, interest, and learning profile in order to provide engaging and effective instruction. Through the use of strategic processes and varied student products, teachers can maximize achievement for each learner. You will:
- Understand the concept of “differentiated classroom instruction”
- Analyze how a differentiated classroom environment will help students learn and be more successful
- Examine the concept of differentiated content and how to instructionally plan for it and implement it
- Select appropriate differentiated instructional strategies and practices to maximize learning
- Learn how to differentiate assessment to more accurately and adequately measure true student learning
You will engage in numerous interactive activities throughout the day and synthesize your learning through a culminating application task.
