Keys to Instructional Excellence
What Effective Teachers Know and Do
This powerful two-day experience designed for front-line educators will provide them with proven and ready-to-use tools and techniques for effectively delivering high-quality classroom instruction that result in increased student learning. AFRE faculty will help participants examine and further develop their knowledge and skills related to three critical keys to instructional excellence:
- Strategic use of instructional planning (long-term, unit/weekly, daily)
- Selection/design and facilitation of effective and engaging learning experiences and related assessment opportunities
- Identification and implementation of classroom management practices that promote responsible student behavior
Workshop content is based on the recent research of Pollock (2007), Danielson (2007), Marzano (2006), Wiggins and McTighe (2005), Mayer (2003), and Strong (2003). Activities throughout these two days will include direct instruction, modeling, reciprocal teaching, guided practice, cooperative group work, and opportunities for reflection and self-assessment.
This workshop is highly recommended for new or struggling teachers as well as teacher mentors or coaches and campus administrators.
