AFRE NAMES SCHEDLER ITS EDUCATION PROGRAMS MANAGER
(July 24, 2006) —The Arizona Foundation for Resource Education (AFRE) has named Karen Schedler as its Education Programs Manager. Schedler will manage the development and presentation of AFRE's AZventure series of natural resource education events.
The AZventure Series includes more than 16 free thematic workshops and expeditionary learning experiences based on Arizona's natural resources and aligned with Arizona's Academic Standards. AZventure events are offered year-round at no cost to Arizona K-12 teachers and informal educators.
Schedler's career as an educator includes positions with the Phoenix Zoo (Education Services Coordinator), Mesa Public Schools (Junior High School Teacher) and most recently, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (Heritage Environmental Education Program Manager).
Schedler received her B.S. and M.A. in Education – Human Ecology from Michigan State University. Her post graduate study has focused on natural resource issues. She has taken coursework at Northern Arizona University, the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Scottsdale Community College.
Established in 2001, Phoenix-based AFRE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit education organization. It is a state leader in providing high-quality, intellectually stimulating and enjoyable natural resource education to K-12 teachers and administrators.
